Age Of Conan

Age of Conan (commonly abbreviated as AoC) is a fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Funcom for PC and the Xbox 360.^[11] The game launched at 9PM GMT on the 17th of May 2008 in a limited way, being available to those who had pre-ordered the game and registered for early access. The full release of the game for North America was May 20, 2008 and for Europe May 23, 2008 for the PC version^[12]. The Xbox 360 version is scheduled to be released in the fall of 08.^[9]

Hyborian Adventures is the first installment in the planned Age of Conan series that may include expansion packs, which are hinted at on the official forums. The Age of Conan series is set in the Hyborian Age, a fantasy setting created by American author Robert E. Howard in 1932. Age of Conan itself takes place within the continent of the Hyborian kingdoms, a year after the events depicted in Howard's sole Conan novel, The Hour of the Dragon.^[13] Hyborian Adventures' release celebrated the 76th anniversary of the Conan franchise.

Like many other MMO games, there is a monthly subscription fee. The suggested retail price of an Age of Conan subscription card is $29.99 (€19.28) for two months. Another available option is a recurring monthly subscription plan paid online by credit card, usually costing $14.99 (€9.63) a month. Discounts can be obtained when subscribing online by purchasing multiple months of play time simultaneously, however, the first month is free.

Technolgy - Invention of the first laser

The ruby laser was used in many early spectacular experiments. One amusing one, in 1969, sent a light beam to the Moon, where it was reflected back from a retro-reflector placed on the Moon's surface by astronauts in the U.S. Apollo program. The round-trip travel time of the pulse provided a measurement of the distance to the Moon. Later, ruby laser beams sent out and received by telescopes measured distances to the Moon with a precision of about three centimeters—a great use of the ruby laser's short pulses.

When the first laser appeared, scientists and engineers were not really prepared for it. Many people said to me—partly as a joke but also as a challenge—that the laser was "a solution looking for a problem." But by bringing together optics and electronics, lasers opened up vast new fields of science and technology. And many different laser types and applications came along quite soon.

How To....Make Red Velvet Cake

Ingrediants

1 pkg. (2-layer size) white cake mix
2 squares BAKER'S Unsweetened Baking Chocolate, melted
1 Tbsp. red food coloring
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
1 pkg. (16 oz.) powdered sugar (about 4 cups)
1/2 cup chopped PLANTERS Pecans


Procedure

PREPARE and bake cake mix as directed on package for 2 (9-inch) round cake layers, adding chocolate and food coloring with water, eggs and oil; cool completely.
BEAT cream cheese and butter with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Gradually add sugar, beating well after each addition. Stir in pecans.
FILL and frost cake layers with cream cheese frosting.
